INTRODUCTION

Ansys Electronics Reliability (ER) is a dedicated multi-physics, multi-tool solution that allows customers to test for the major causes of electronics failure (thermal, mechanical and electrical stress) and make quick design changes to improve reliability. Ansys ER solutions provide users with the tools to analyze for the major causes of electronics failure, including the effects of thermal, mechanical and electrical stress. ER workflows currently feature Mechanical, LSDYNA, Sherlock, & Icepak integrations. Ansys is the only solution provider on the market that offers a comprehensive Electro-Thermo-Mechanical Reliability workflow.

SHERLOCK

Ansys Sherlock is the only Reliability Physics-based electronics design software that provides fast and accurate life predictions for electronic hardware at the component, board and system level in early design stages. Sherlock bypasses the ‘test-fail-fix-repeat’ cycle by empowering designers to accurately model silicon–metal layers, semiconductor packaging, printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assemblies to predict failure risks due to thermal, mechanical and manufacturing stressors--all before prototype.

ICEPAK

Ansys Icepak accurately predicts airflow, temperature and heat transfer for electronic and power electronic components and printed circuit boards. It can also perform thermal analysis of system-level applications, such as data centers, computers and telecommunications equipment, and leverages the powerful computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solver, ANSYS Fluent, for evaluating conceptual designs and accessing data that would be either impractical or impossible with physical testing.

MECHANICAL

Ansys Mechanical enables you to solve complex structural engineering problems and make better, faster design decisions. With the finite element analysis (FEA) solvers available in the suite, you can customize and automate solutions for your structural mechanics problems and parameterize them to analyze multiple design scenarios. Ansys Mechanical is a dynamic tool that has a complete range of analysis tools.

LS-DYNA

Ansys LS-DYNA is industry leading scalable Multiphysics simulation software that is designed to simulate highly nonlinear dynamic short duration events. Its many elements, contract formulations, material models and other controls can be used to simulate complex models with control over all the details of the problem. It is used for applications like drop tests, impact and penetration, smashes and crashes, occupant safety and much more.
