Electromagnetic Simulation with Ansys EMA Solutions

October 9, 2023 Conrad Magalis

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of complex electronic systems is essential for ensuring product success. Traditional testing may be performed at the unit/component level, however, validation of an entire integrated platform is critical. Otherwise, EMC problems & test failures will surface late in the program when major changes to the design are not possible. Simulation allows engineers to validate system-level compatibility early in their process – reducing unnecessary test/fail cycles and risk.

Electronics engineers can access technology to virtually execute platform-level EMC validation during the product development cycle. In this presentation, we will explain how Ansys EMC Plus and Ansys Charge Plus can be applied to the simulation of EMI, ESD, EMP, HIRF, and Lightning. Examples will be provided to illustrate the integration of these tools to support full Multiphysics simulations of sophisticated product designs.

In this session, you will:

  • Learn how to accurately predict full platform EMI/EMC results compared to testing – allowing simulation to be used as part of your certification process
  • View a fast, efficient workflow for importing complex CAD models, and prepare them for electromagnetic simulation
  • Understand how to predict and mitigate dangerous ESD/arcing and lightning coupling that can impair electronic performance.
