Innovision, LLC Turned to
Rand Simulation to Optimize its
Investment in Simulation Technology
Founded in 2017, Innovision, LLC develops digital technologies related to
humans and uses these technologies to create human-centered products,
services, and performance. The company's scientists and engineers
have extensive experience with impact and biomechanical modeling
and simulation, as well as computer vision, machine learning, digital
engineering, and digital twins.
Innovision's R&D activities have been supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration's Small Business
Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The company has also received multiple Phase I and Phase II awards from
the United States Air Force, Army, and Navy, the U.S. Defense Health Agency, the National Science Foundation,
and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
As Innovision Simulates the Human Body, It Relies on Rand Simulation's
Expertise and Flexibility
Innovision uses various software and hardware tools to
develop highly accurate models that simulate the effects of
force, acceleration, heat, electromagnetic waves, and more on
the human body. These models are critical for the company's
work on military and personal safety equipment applications,
where understanding the effects of physical stress on the body
is essential for product development and safety improvements.
The Innovision team utilizes Ansys LS-DYNA extensively for
these simulations. It has partnered with Rand Simulation (Rand
SIM) for the software licenses, as well as technical support
that enables the company to get the greatest return on its
investment in technology.
When Innovision initially deployed LS-DYNA, it ran the system
on one core. As the company's needs evolved, the Rand SIM
team explained the full range of computational capabilities
available from Ansys, such as different licensing models, Ansys
HPC packs, and Corvid HPC's cloud hosting.
"Flexibility is important for us. We don't always know exactly
what we need from our software. Rand SIM offers us flexibility
and helps us figure out how to optimize our usage and our
investment," said Dr. Zhiqing Cheng, Innovision's CEO.
In many instances, Innovision makes changes to pre-existing
human digital models in order to repurpose them. Adapting
these models for different applications is an important part of
Innovision's work.
