Activating Shared Web License for Discovery 2025

Ansys Discovery 2025 is no longer using the subscription license model for single user or named user licenses. Ansys Shared Web Licensing is the new method for that.

This post explains the basic steps to activate and configure shared web licensing.
This change applies to existing customers that had a subscription for a previous release and for new customers.

With an active online account with Ansys, login to id.ansys.com and create a group and add the individual account to that group.

Once the group and user assignment is done, login to licensing.ansys.com to assign the group to the shared web license. (This step is usually done automatically and is just to confirm the setup.)

After installing Discover 2025 as a standalone application or as part of the Structures or Fluids package, open the “Ansys Licensing Settings 2025” application as administrator to enable Shared Web Licensing for the installed applications including Discovery.

After enabling “Products” under “Web Licensing”, the application will prompt the user to login with the active Ansys account. Once the login is successful, a website will open in another window to confirm the login.

After the login, Discover and other applications that use the Shared Web License method can be opened.
