• Conducting antenna placement studies
If wireless devices are installed in a vehicle, in the field, or on a building, designers must understand how
antennas propagate in these environments.
HFSS includes a tool called Shooting and Balancing Arrays or SBR+ which visualizes and calculates the
propagation of 5G antennas. SBR+ uses Visual Ray Tracing to propagate rays that bounce through the
environment. Designers can apply boundary conditions to different structures to represent specific materials,
such as glass or concrete. It's possible to see an S-parameter coupling, visualize the E-field strength, and
evaluate the link margin between antennas.
