• Analyzing enclosures for EMI
EMI is a common issue in the electronics industry. With HFSS, designers can use the Antenna Toolkit to develop
a noise source at a desired analysis frequency. The antenna can then be placed in an enclosure that was either
drawn natively in HFSS or imported from a 3D CAD file.
HFSS uses an adaptive meshing process to visualize how waves of EMI are propagating and escaping out of
the enclosure through holes, slots, or gasket imperfections. It's easy for designers to quickly identify the most
significant problem areas in enclosures and address them.

Conclusion
As 5G network adoption gains momentum, demand for 5G enabled devices will continue to increase. To remain
competitive in this market, electronics manufacturers must continue to innovate and develop higher-performance
PCBs and antennas. The key to success is simulating designs and resolving issues before they ever reach the man-
ufacturing facility. Ansys HFSS, SIwave, and Icepak make it easy for product designers to identify design risks inher-
ent in both PCBs and 5G antennas and quickly address them in a cost-efficient way. Contact the Rand Simulation
