Component Design Flow For the photonic component designs, Ansys and Cadence built a direct integration bridge between the Candence Virtuoso Layout Suite and the Lumerical Multiphysics simulation tools to provide a simple design environment for component layout and simulation. It also includes the Lumerical Compact Model Library (CML) Compiler as a cross-simulator photonic compact model development platform, which takes the component simulation data and generates the compact models for the photonic PDKs. 2. Circuit Design Flows To facilitate the electronic photonics integrated circuit designs, Lumerical's photonic circuit simulator can integrate with the Candence Virtuoso. This design environment allows users to design hierarchical integrated circuit schematics using a virtual schematic editor and perform circuit analyses through the Virtuoso ADE. From the ADE, users can perform optical time and frequency domain analyses on their photonic circuits by using Lumerical's INTERCONNECT state engine. Users can also perform the full system simulation on both their electronic circuits and photonic circuits by leveraging Cadence Spectre and INTERCONNECT. This is also available for the Verilog-A platform. The schematic design can drive the circuit layout and the layout can be back annotated to the schematic for post layout simulations.
