These models reflect the impact their products will have after the installation of the new ventilation equipment. While Moffitt had a strong track record of converting these "proof of concept" CFD projects into equipment sales, it faced critical workflow bottlenecks. Each CFD model requires a variety of equipment and location analysis scenarios to find the proper balance of performance and cost for each customer. The on-premises hardware used to develop the models was leading to longer run times. As a result, Moffitt was limited in the number of customers for which it could perform this service. These restrictions, compounded by each customer's need to have equipment installed ahead of the summer heat, resulted in Moffitt struggling to meet customer demands promptly. Solution Moffitt sought a comprehensive solution to address this simulation challenge. In collaboration with Rand Simulation, Moffitt's provider of Ansys licensing and support, a strategic partnership was proposed to ensure limitless growth potential and predictable costs. To complement the software solution, Corvid HPC was introduced to provide advanced cloud computing infrastructure and effectively solve the hardware scalability issue. This collaborative approach offered Moffitt an integrated solution to the simulation challenge causing a critical business issue. Outcomes: • Exponential Reduction in Solve Times: The implementation of Corvid HPC reduced Moffitt's previous CFD modeling times from a range of 8 to 48 hours per analysis down to just 5 to 60 minutes per analysis. • Enhanced Workflow Efficiency: The streamlined user interface provided by Corvid, coupled with their advanced cloud computing infrastructure, empowered Moffitt's CFD engineers to focus on simulation intricacies rather than navigating complex systems. This efficiency gain allowed for faster customer ventilation modeling and more agile sales process management. • Financial Flexibility: The collaboration with Rand Simulation on a strategic partnership eliminated the financial hurdles posed by traditional licensing models. This new approach gave Moffitt predictable costs and limitless room for growth, enabling efficient budget planning. • Increased Throughput and Capacity: The revolutionary impact of Corvid HPC enabled Moffitt to significantly increase throughput, which enabled them to convert projects into equipment sales at a pace that was previously unattainable with on-premises hardware.
