Ansys Optics continues to push the innovation envelope to deliver accurate, high-performance simulation
capabilities for optics and photonics designers. The 2024 R1 release delivers powerful capabilities that speed
time to result, improve simulation accuracy, and expand interoperability with other Ansys products.
Optics Highlights: Interop between Optics products for higher efficiency
Ansys Optics has focused on a collection of new features and capabilities primarily around enabling high-
efficiency multi-scale optics simulation and analysis to address several industry design challenges:
✓ Metalens Simulation and Design Enhancements (Larger and more sophisticated)
• New multi-incidence angle and amplitude data are now stored along polarization and phase from
Lumerical in a fast and memory-efficient mapping file.
• Metalens optical performance analysis in OpticStudio:
• Image quality analysis with MTF and PSF including multi-lens/metalens simulation
• New operand for phase constraint optimization
• New DLL for direct modeling of metalenses in ZOS and Lumerical
• Validate mid to large metalenses (micro-to-centimeter scales in diameter) with HPC CPU or on
single node GPU
• Applications for metalenses: color sorting for CMOS image sensors, endoscopes, LiDAR (emission,
receiving), compact imaging systems (cell phone camera, webcam), AR/VR systems
✓ Streamlined and Comprehensive Straylight Analysis
• New streamlined workflow for importing optical design (lens geometries and optical properties)
from Zemax OpticStudio into Speos. This facilitates a smooth transition from optical system design
and performance analysis in OpticStudio to advanced straylight analysis in Speos.
• New rapid analysis of main ray sequences in camera sensors compatible with the new Optical
Design Import in Speos.
