About Rand Simulation Rand Simulation is focused on helping organizations bring their product vision to reality through incorporating engineering simulation technology into the product development process. Rand Simulation caters to product development organizations looking to compress the design process, maximize innovation, strengthen competitive differentiation and grow bottom-line profitability. Rand Simulation serves as both a North American reseller of Ansys engineering simulation software and as a trusted design consultant offering insights gained on over 3,000 design projects using engineering analysis software to balance design performance with size, cost, DFM and aesthetics. For example, using the Ansys Workbench, a user can export the FEA model generated with Sherlock and connect it to other geometry in Ansys Mechanical. Using standard Ansys Mechanical linear dynamics analysis techniques, the assembly can be subjected to the same random vibration profile as was used in the standalone Sherlock analysis. The results can be imported back into Sherlock where the TTF post-processing can be performed. Comparing these results to the original results will help to evaluate the contribution of the enclosure to failure rates. Watch a Demonstration To see the workflow of importing an OBB Plus+ archive into Sherlock and running a basic mechanical simulation, check out this section of a recorded webinar called, "An Introduction to Ansys Sherlock for Electronics Reliability. You can also watch the entire recording. About the Author Adam Lemay, Consulting Engineer - FEA, Rand Simulation Adam is a consulting engineer specializing in electronics reliability solutions. With experience in the power electronics industry and in simulation, he collaborates with clients to understand their existing products and evaluate new designs from an electronics reliability perspective.
