• To support customer sustainability initiatives, a new empirical battery swelling model is now available for Newman, Tiedemann, Gu and Kim (NTGK) and the equivalent circuit model (ECM) model along with enhancements for modeling hydrogen compression for storage and gas purification. • To aid in the prediction of communications blackout or degradation, there is now an ability to account for weak ionization to improve solution fidelity at hypersonic speed. Additionally, enhancements have been made to improve temperature results for hypersonic flows near expansion zones. • Species transport and volumetric reaction are now supported within the adjoint solver, allowing additional shape optimization applications such as mean age of air in a room. Ansys CFX and Turbo Tools • Turbogrid now provides automated meshing for hydro-turbines, including the ability to mesh Kaplan and Francis turbines with square trailing edges. This can be represented as an entirely hex mesh, or you can use hybrid meshing to capture complex blade and hub geometries. • The ability in System Coupling to easily transfer real and complex mode shapes from Mechanical Modal Analysis to CFD Aerodynamic Damping Analysis has been enhanced with automatic geometry alignment between Mechanical and CFD models to further streamline workflows and map data accurately. Ansys Rocky • New SPH (Smoothed-Particle Hydrodynamics) capabilities, elevating your simulation insights to an entirely new level by unlocking the power of new cutting-edge post-processing, featuring streamlines, flow tracers, and innovative boundary interaction statistics such as wet time and heat transfer. • Improved GPU algorithms empower you to effortlessly handle massive STL files and take on much larger geometries with the Rocky solver. Plus, our enhanced partitioning algorithm boosts performance for multi-GPU cases, allowing you to run big cases with unparalleled ease. • Unleash the full potential of multiphysics coupling and solve complex problems like never before. New modules such as the particle reorientation triggered by a magnetic field and the drag force induced by a secondary fluid phase tailored for SPH-DEM simulations, take your engineering simulations to the next level. Ansys Chemkin • Plasma Multiphase Perfectly Stirred Reactor (PSR) enables accurate prediction of plasma-water processes like carbon-free ammonia production and the removal of toxic substances. In addition to being fully released in 2023 R2, a detailed sample project has been included demonstrating the elimination of PFAS in a water treatment process. Ansys Forte • A new VOF capability is now available in 2023 R2, providing an enhancement that enables the effects of oil injection in screw compressors and pumps. Ansys Icing • Added Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) for ice protection system analysis directly in the Fluent Icing workspace for unsteady electro-thermal deicing, providing a significant improvement in speed compared to previous methods.
