OVERVIEW Ansys Discovery 2023 R2 includes breakthrough new features that help our customers innovate and explore new product concepts faster and more accurately than ever before. Engineers and designers no longer need to sacrifice accuracy for speed. Thanks to the breakthrough combination of the Live GPU CFD solver with high quality unstructured polyhedral meshing, you can now have the accuracy of Ansys Fluent with the speed of Live Physics all within the highly automated and easy to use interface of Discovery. The new Check Geometry tool automatically identifies problematic model issues before going to simulation, avoiding mesh failures and time-consuming roundtrips between tools. Lastly, a highly innovative new workflow technology has been introduced that eliminates the most challenging part of CFD preprocessing, so that you can spend more time interpreting and learning from test results and less time setting them up. These features make Ansys Discovery 2023 R2 the go-to solution for efficient and effective design exploration. RELEASE HIGHLIGHTS • Live-GX and Polyhedral Meshing: The industry-leading speed of the Live-GX GPU CFD solver used in Discovery's Explore stage can now be leveraged with high-accuracy unstructured meshing in the Refine stage, making it possible to have both speed and accuracy while at the same time dramatically reducing GPU hardware memory requirements. This technical breakthrough excels when working with thin structures and small features as your simulation will capture all of the geometric details in an efficient manner, allowing you to get the most out of your local hardware. Additionally, support for native polyhedral meshing has been added further improving mesh quality leading to faster and more optimized simulations. • Check Geometry Tool: Finding and fixing geometry issues before they cause issues in meshing or solving is now dramatically easier. With the new Check Geometry tool in Discovery, common geometry issues that can derail your simulation process are now automatically identified, visualized, and grouped into easy-to-work-with categories depending on severity and likelihood to cause issues. More importantly, a powerful new repair engine automatically corrects issues, resulting in clean, ready to simulate geometry the first time. This means that customers can now focus on evaluating design ideas, instead of wasting time manually identifying and fixing errors. • Cutter Bodies: Specifically designed for fluid and fluid-solid (conjugate) heat transfer simulations, a new Cutter Bodies capability removes the geometry bottleneck for simulation. For complex fluid domains, it can often be challenging or impossible to create geometric fluid regions due to gaps and overlapping parts, small and highly detailed features, as well cases involving edge-to-edge or edge-to- surface contacts. Working with complex assemblies for CFD studies can be both time consuming and 3D Design Products 2023 R2 Update
