About Ansys HFSS Housed within the Ansys Electronics Desktop along with a fully integrated 3D modeler, Ansys HFSS enables engineers to draw an enclosure to represent the model or import an ECAC or MCAD file of the enclosure and then run the analysis within HFSS. HFSS is considered the gold standard in solving electromagnetic problems because its adaptive meshing process intelligently adds in mesh elements where necessary. Based on a user-specified error tolerance or convergence, it automatically: • Takes data from the simulation on the imported model with relevant material properties assigned • Automatically generates mesh elements onto the different structures inside the design • Intelligently adds more mesh elements as necessary, based on comparisons of the Maxwell's equations at each individual point inside the mesh element to a previous adaptive pass. Once the model has been solved, electromagnetic fields can be plotted within the solution domain. Uses of HFSS for EMC 1. EMI Model Setup – This workflow is a great starting point for people who don't have a lot of experience inside electromagnetic solvers: a. Select an antenna from the HFSS antenna repository b. Assign a frequency where interest will be centered c. HFSS creates a model of the antenna with all the excitations and material assignments d. Import the enclosure model into HFSS and assign the relevant properties e. Run the simulation Model Mesh Results → →
