OVERVIEW Ansys 2023 R1 continues to expand toolsets for Additive Manufacturing users, streamlining workflows between design, simulation, and manufacturing. The addition of new Wizards for distortion compensation and scan pattern-based calibration automates the simulation setup process, reducing the need for lengthy manual setup. RELEASE HIGHLIGHTS Ansys Additive Processes • Automatic optimization for first time right printing - 'Set it and forget it' – An enhanced and automated Distortion Compensation wizard within Ansys Mechanical reduces setup time by 50% by eliminating time-consuming manual processes for optimized geometry to print for metal AM. An optimized loop removes the need to manually run iterations, by enabling users to set tolerance ranges which allows the algorithm to provide an optimized geometry. Users can control things like deformations at the baseplate, view convergence logs, take the compensated geometry from any or all iterations, and can easily control the faceting resolution of the geometry. • Increase fidelity of simulations by simulating exact scan paths from a machine – Increase the fidelity of simulations by simulating the exact laser paths used for Laser Powderbed Fusion (LPBF) with the integration of the Build File Reader into Mechanical. There is now no need to ignore the anisotropic deformation of a part or struggle to estimate whether a generic laser path is close enough; directly load the exact scan paths to enhance print success and process understanding. • Simplification of the calibration process for improved convergence – Simplify the calibration process for anisotropic simulations using the new Scan Pattern-based Calibration Wizard in Ansys Mechanical. Leverage the increased fidelity with Scan Pattern and Build File-based simulations without increasing the manual effort to establish valid calibration criteria. Let the wizard do the work for you.
