Step 4 – Download Software Packages
Who: Ansys Users or ASC
What & Where: License Manager on License Server, software package on Client Machines
How: Visit download.ansys.com of the Ansys Customer Portal to download the appropriate software
Client Machines
1. Under Primary Packages section, download Full Package of all appropriate Physics (Structures,
Fluids, etc.) Note: PrepPost is included in the "Full Package Downloads" so you do not need to down-
load these individually.
2. Download any "Add-On Packages" as applicable based on your purchase
3. Extract zipped packages prior to installation.
License Server
1. Either copy one of the Full Package files from a client machine or download a dedicated smaller
License Manager installation package under Tools section.
2. Extract zipped packages prior to installation.
Step 5 – Setup License Manager
Who: ASC
Where: License Server
What: Install the license manager and add the license file

Note: typically, the License Server and the Client Machines are separate, but some organizations with
fewer users may opt to host the license and run the software on the same machine. This is certainly
permitted. In all cases, there need only be a network connection between them to ensure all Ansys
users can access the software from whichever machine is hosting the license.
Step 6 – Install Software
Who: All Ansys Users
Where: Client Machines
What: Install the appropriate software

Note: if the software on the Client Machines fails to detect the license on the License Server, this is
typically due to issues with Windows Firewall. Refer to the link and video in Step 2 to open ports
and add exceptions.
